Alack of data among men who use Viagra could signal a wave of new sexual problems among men who use it.

WASHINGTON — A new study from the University of Connecticut suggests that men who use Viagra may be more likely to have erectile dysfunction than other men. And that may be partly because men with ED use them more aggressively, rather than less aggressively, as a way to get the drugs.
The researchers found that the number of men who used the little blue pill — which is still widely available — by itself was not significantly different among those who were prescribed Viagra. But men who used the blue pill for more than three years were nearly twice as likely to develop erectile dysfunction as men who were not on the blue pill.
The researchers also found that those on Viagra were also about equally likely to develop ED than those who were not on the drug. Viagra is a drug used to treat erectile dysfunction in men, not impotence. Viagra is used by millions of men worldwide, according to the study.
Viagra, or sildenafil citrate, is the brand name for the active ingredient in Viagra. It is the same substance that the little blue pill is used to treat.
The researchers noted that men who have been diagnosed with ED or who have had the side effects of erectile dysfunction are about a quarter of men who would be at increased risk of having ED if they were taking Viagra. They found that men who had ED also had higher rates of ED than the men who were not on Viagra.
